NEW
FLAG
STANDS
FOR
NAVAL
STATION
MAYPORT:
Last
year,
the
Mayport
Naval
Station
loaned
us
their
50
state
flags
and
bases,
plus
flags
and
bases
for
the
US
Flag,
Service
flags,
POW
flag,
etc.
In
setting
up
the
flags,
our
team
noticed
that
the
bases
were
in
very
bad
repair
and
leaked
sand
all
over
the
floors.
These
flags
are
used
by
the
Mayport
Naval
Station
for
numerous
Navy
and
Navy
associated
ceremonies
and
events,
such
as
retirement
ceremonies,
changes
of
command,
our
Battle
of
Midway
Dinner,
etc.,
and
the
flags
and
their
base should
contribute
to
an
appropriate,
neat
and
smart
environment
for
such
occasions
-
they
don't
do
that
now.
In
this
restricted
financial
climate,
it
may
be
very
hard
for
the
Naval
Station
to
afford
to
replace
the
60
flag
bases
needed
for
the
full
set.
George
Huchting
has
undertaken
to
replace
these
flag
bases
through
independent
donations
-
the
bases
will
be
presented
to
the
Mayport
Naval
Station
on
behalf
of
the
Mayport
Council
of
the
Navy
League.
If
you
are
interested
in
supporting
this
effort,
please
contact
George
with
your
donation.
Please
make
your
check
payable
to
"Mayport

and
note
on
the
check
that
it
is
for
the
"New
Flag

NAVY
LEAGUE
DINNER: THERE
ARE
A
FEW
SPOTS
OPEN.
Our January
dinner
will
be
a
change
of
venue
as
it
will
be
held
at
the
THE
PLANTATION
INN
AT
PONTE
VEDRA
starting
at
1800
(cocktail)
and
1900
(dinner.)
We
will
be
introducing
and
swearing
in
the
2012
Board
of
Directors.
The
meal
is
a
buffet
style
meal. Last
year,
we
received
a
lot
of
positive
feedback
regarding
the
venue
so
we
expect
a
capacity
crowd (120)
and
may
have
to
turn
away
non-RSVP
individuals
if
space
is
going
to
be
an
issue
so
please
make
a
timely
reservation
if
you
plan
on
attending. Thus
far
we
already
have
about
50
RSVP’s
so
space
is
filling
up
fast.

NAVY
LEAGUE
MIXER: The
Feb
mixer
will
be
held
at
Culhane’s
Irish
Pub
in

This
is
a
great
opportunity
to
meet
and
greet
other
Navy
League
members
and
discuss
ideas
and
events
in
an
informal
setting.
The
food
is
superb,
the
beverages
outstanding
but
the
camaraderie
is
second
to
none.
Please
join
us
from
1730-1900.
I
promise,
you
will
have
a
great
time.

15:
NAVY
LEAGUE
DINNER: Our March
dinner
will
also
be
a
first
and
a
very
special
event.
Since
we
use
March
to
honor
and
pay
tribute
to
the
US
Coast
Guard,
we
will
be
celebrating
jointly
in
association
with
the
Jacksonville
Propeller
Club.
We
have
also
invited
Admiral
Papp,
the
Commandant
of
the
Coast
Guard.
The
date
right
now
may
be
fluid
in
that
we
have
to
work
around
the
Admiral’s
schedule
but
right
now,
we
are
planning
on
a
very
large
turnout
at
the
Ocean
Breeze
Conference
Center.

we

I
just
wanted

Because
of
the
outstanding
response
from

there
will
most
likely
be

Tickets

will
be
released
at

There
is
a

rate
of

value).
