September monthly dinner meeting: Out next dinner meeting is on 9/16 at the Ocean Breeze Conference Center. We will honor the Sea Cadets by presenting the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to the Outstanding Sea Cadet and Certificate to the Outstanding Navy Leaguer. The Sea Cadets are being secretive on what they will show so please join us and show our support for all their hard work over the past year.

JU NROTC leadership and movie night: Mark your calendars for 9/24. Last year the Mayport Council hosted a leadership and movie night for the incoming NROTC Plebes at JU. It was so well taken that JU requested that we sponsor a Friday evening again. The purpose is to introduce these young men and women to 'seasoned' military and civilian leaders to discuss ethics, leadership and moral values and how it applies to every day life. We do this with a quick open discussion and then sit with the Plebes as we watch a movie that highlights the tough decisions that people make. Movies have ranged from "The Bridge on the River Kwai" to "The Cain Mutiny". We also provide pizza, popcorn and soda for the event. For those who would like to attend or donate some money to help fund the event, please let me know. Last year it was well received and a lot of fun so please take the time to either volunteer your time or treasure to get these men and women off running in the right direction.
