FREEDOM
(LCS-1)
a
new
class
of
fighting
warship
made
a
port
call
to
Mayport
Naval
Station.
Freedom
is
the
first
of
the
Navy's
new
Littoral
Combat
Ships
(LCS)
designed
to
operate
close
to
shore
and
to
be
outfitted
with
a
variety
of
mission
packages.
Members
of
Mayport
Council
Navy
League
of
the
United
States
had
the
privilege
of
take
a
tour
of
the
ship
while
she
was
in
port.
